I first got into photography when I was a schoolboy. My parents bought me an Ilford 35mm rangefinder camera for my 13th birthday. A long, long time ago!
Later, I moved over to 35mm SLR and for many years used only Contax bodies and Carl Zeiss lenses. In those days I preferred German equipment to Japanese. In those days I could afford it!
Today I use Nikon bodies and either Nikon or Tamron/Sigma lenses. For many years I used a Nikon D300s and had amazing results! Today I use a Nikon D500 and a Nikon Z50 mirrorless camera. I tried a Nikon Z fc mirrorless camera for a while but was very disappointed with the image quality! ... why? The Z50 and the Z fc are almost the same camera! Maybe I bought a duff model.
Photography has always been my greatest passion and I still get the same pleasure from a day out shooting as I did when I was a young boy! To be able to capture a moment in time forever still fascinates me! WOW!
If I could offer a little advice to newcomers it would be forget all the hype! You don't need the latest camera to take great shots! My best ever selling image was taken on a Nikon D70s. It still outshines the images I take today ... by a long way! Invest in the best glass you can afford! The lens will get you the great shot not the camera.
