I do enjoy seeing other people's work, and while I have favourite subject areas I appreciate the immense variety and wealth of images, and celebrate the creativity being shared on this platform.

This is a new start on Flickr after long term caring for parents. I was in Powys, mid Wales, from late 2013 until Aug 2023 when I moved to Cumbria.

Photography came as a later addition to my interest in walking and landscape. Mainly interested in landscapes, details such as trees/plants and rocks, weather. There will be town / city / village photos from time to time. Not being into gear or carrying heavy equipment, I use a compact Olympus Tough camera for my walks through the seasons in variable conditions. Hand held, most interested in trying to capture the mood of the day with a decent composition (not following rules, just a sense of things coming together naturally). I don't usually wait around a location for light etc - almost always photos are part of a walk - but I do take into account the light at the time for deciding on subjects and compositions. I was taking photos in square format for a while, and continue to enjoy using that aspect ratio for a good number of my photos. I think restricting myself in that way for a while has taught me a lot. Still using Picasa for processing.

Despite the basic approach, I hope some of the images will be of interest.
