"There is only one reason to do anything: to announce

and declare, express and fulfil, become and

experience Who You Really Are.

Do what you do, therefore, for the sheer joy of it,

for sheer joy is who you are. Do what you choose,

not what someone else chooses for you."

- Kneale Donald Walsch

"You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist."

- Friedrich Nietzsche.

None of my photos will ever be selected for 'Explore'. I reached out to Flickr and asked if they could remove my channel from the selection process and they kindly did so.

I have no time for the frenzied and over-the-top attention that comes from that group. I much prefer the relatively modest and more sincere views etc that I receive.

The Ephemeral Frame

No tripod set, no light meter's plea, No careful pause for composition's key. The heavy camera sleeps within its case, The lens cap rests, guarding a vacant space. But then the world gives way, a sudden rift, A dazzling, unrepeatable, quick gift.

It's the flash of the mundane, abruptly made rare, A sunbeam that catches a stranger's tossed hair. A puddle reflecting the sky's fiery mood, A cracked paving stone where a bright flower stood. It's the Impulse Snap, the finger that flies, To seize the brief painting before your own eyes.

The phone is pulled out, like a weapon of haste, With no time for settings, no second to waste. The composition is wild, the focus may blur, But the essence, the feeling, is instantly pure. It's capturing joy in a child's sudden sprint, The steam from a mug, giving only a hint.

The shot is imperfect, perhaps cropped too tight, Too dark on the left, or too glaringly bright. But the ghost of the moment, the raw, vivid truth, Outweighs the cold rules that are taught in your youth. The photo's not framed for the gallery wall, It’s a record of living, embracing it all.

It teaches the eye to be hungry and keen, To honor the moments that lie in between The big planned events and the scheduled affairs, The random, small beauty that nobody shares. So hail the quick shutter, the sudden command, The perfect, imperfect, spontaneous hand. - KJ
