Hi,

I have always been interested in 'things with wheels on'.

My late father developed a keen interest in buses, starting in 1925 when he was 8 years old. That interest rubbed off on me. When I was at school in the late 1950s / early 1960s, many of my school chums were interested in trains. Born and raised in Derby - a railway town - I guess it was inevitable that my interest would widen to include trains.

When I started work at Rolls-Royce in 1966, my interest spread further to include civil passenger aircraft. The Boeing 747 has an outstanding presence, combining grace, style and impressive size. And my once-in-a-Iifetime round the world trip was entirely made on 747s - five 747-400s and all with Rolls-Royce engines.

I joined Flickr in April 2022 when I learned that bus pictures on Flickr, provided they include the bus's registration somewhere in their descriptions, get automatically picked by by 'Buslists'. This is the main information website for British-operated and British-built buses. My motivation was to publicise the pictures I have made of British buses that I have come across on overseas holidays, for other folk to learn of their whereabouts. They include some from Derby that are/were on Vancouver Island and one from Derby that is in New Zealand.

But once I got started, I have been adding some pictures of other subjects as well.

Since Sylvia and I married in 1974, we have lived in Nottingham.

And then, in 2004, Nottingham introduced a new tram system. More wheels.....

Which has led recently into taking an interest in the trams in Birmingham in the 2010s and in Sheffield in 2023.
