I'm an airline pilot and hobby photographer, exploring cities and people, and capturing feelings and memories wherever my work takes me.
...
Following in the footsteps of my wife Émilie, and mostly because of a discussion with her about film photography, I got interested in taking photos. I picked up my first camera, a 35mm film camera (Pentax SP500), in the last quarter of 2021. The first shutter release was such a great feeling and I was hooked. Shortly after shooting my first roll of film, I acquired a Fuji mirrorless camera, and a myriad of film SLRs and rangefinders. Ever since, I've been carrying at least one camera, if not two, almost everywhere I go.
After a few months of shooting analog, discussions online and research on various forums, I wanted to challenge myself and fully control the process. I started developing my black and white film, initially in experimental, homemade, caffenol, and now using Ilford DD-X. To digitize the images, my wife and I picked up a dedicated film/slides scanner. Finally, in the summer of 2022, I found a small enlarger and so enrolled in the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) darkroom techniques class and learned the process of analog printing.
The current chapter of this evolving hobby is to process color film. I'm excited to see what the next chapter will bring!
