Just another amateur photographer here, and this is what I am still trying to learn.

 

How do I see all of this?

 

The light, the shadows, the architecture, the storytelling, the leading lines… How do I learn to recognize all these elements within the chaos of the street and, at the right moment, capture them on a sensor, inside a single frame?

 

Perhaps street photography is, after all, a small form of directing. A composition that you cannot completely control, one that gives you only a few seconds — if you are lucky — to capture it before it disappears.

 

But before you can press the shutter, you first have to learn how to see.

 

To learn how to read the street. To notice the light, the shadows, the geometry, the lines, the movement and the contrasts. To understand how all these elements can, for a fleeting moment, come together within a single frame.

 

And then, you wait.

 

Patiently.

 

You wait for what you have already imagined to happen. For the person, the movement, the light, or that unexpected moment to appear and complete the composition.

 

Portrait photography, in comparison, feels relatively easy to me. Especially in a studio, you are in control. You decide almost everything: the light, the props, the mood, the model, the atmosphere. You can shape and control the scene according to your vision.

 

Street photography is completely different.

 

That is why I have such enormous respect for street photographers. You cannot control the light. You cannot direct the people. You cannot ask the world to wait. You have to be there, fully aware of everything happening around you, and somehow recognize the potential of a moment before it is gone.

 

It feels like you need to be on another level of perception, observation and knowledge to consistently see what others simply walk past.

 

I am an amateur photographer. I don't have many photographs that I feel are truly worth sharing with you yet. But whenever I take something that I genuinely like, I will share it.

 

This is my photographic journey. I am still learning how to see, how to anticipate, how to wait, and how to turn an ordinary moment into something meaningful inside a single frame.

 

And I hope that, somewhere along this journey, I will eventually be able to see that “magical moment” on the street — just before it disappears.
