Primarily I'm a lifelong Suffolk (UK) birder. The 1980's included plenty of rarity chasing but with around 3 years spent working in California (SF) and Texas (Austin). I was able to spend the 1990's doing some world birding - and fortunate that my wife is also a lifelong birder! After the kids arrived (2000>) all foreign travel ended until 2015 when I started regular (mostly annual - Covid permitting) visits to my sister who lives near Ottawa (Ontario/Canada). Our first "proper" birding trips this millennium were to Costa Rica (2022), Columbia (2023) and Northern Ecuador (2024) with hopefully more to follow: probably also somewhere with plenty of 'hummers and Antpittas!

I've only recently got more interested in (almost exclusively bird) photography. Until late 2019 I used a basic Canon (7D2/400mm f5.6) rig when I bit the bullet and ditched it all for the lighter weight Olympus kit - which I love and carry everywhere and in every weather (unlike the Canon). Most photos here were taken using an OM-1 with 300mm f4 PRO (mostly with the MC-14 1.4x teleconverter giving effective 840mm f5.6 FFE) until mid-2023 when I acquired the 150-400mm f4.5 PRO. I'm gradually getting to grips with post processing, originally utilising DxO Photolab but increasingly also using ON1 which seems to be rapidly evolving (in positive ways). Adobe is the devil's work!
