Artistic Style: whimsical art & Zentangle/Doodles, but as dementia symptoms progress i am getting much more involved with abstract styles. Taught ballroom dance with parents, so enjoy any kind of dance but especially Ballroom or ballet, crochet/sewing, orchestra/soothing vocals. Can no longer use my lap harp, but now i have a “Hapi” drum. In art/ craft projects, i especially enjoy curvy curling strokes, and embellishments. i love light. Our house (upstairs and downstairs) has 28 windows and four window coverings. i especially enjoy sources of light like Lamps Lanterns and Candles. i am not especially fond of primary colors (they FEEL blaring and startling), but prefer secondary and tertiary colors. Most of my current art projects are for use in my blog about symptoms and strategies living with dementia symptoms.

Learning a new thing is always difficult when dealing with dementia symptoms, and I am new to Flickr Oct2021. new to Apple Pencil, the digital art application, and new to use of an iPad (all in 2021). But when i try to sleep i see swirls and curls of color and patterns. As my verbal abilities decline (WORDS both going out and coming, written and audio) ... then the importance of art increases.

Very involved with finding and sharing dementia strategies, family history, and locations or occupations of my ancestors.

Dalarna area of Sweden for paternal grandfather. Rhineland Germany for paternal grandmother.

Ulster Scots, England and Wales for maternal grandparents.

Several ancestors on the Mayflower and other early settlers in my Spencer and Pate family branches.

Truthful Loving Kindness (aka Belinda before legal name-change) is an INTP.

She likes working mostly alone, in an unstructured environment

that allows plenty of time to be creatively involved

in the detailed research and development, and then the communication

of any project which involves a new or unique aspect of

information, values, behaviors, or personal relationships

that will have a visible result of encouraging or benefiting others.

My own full legal name is Truthful Loving Kindness. My current diagnosis is still Mild Cognitive Impairment, but my neurologist said I am in a unique position for helping because I have “one foot in each door”. i have symptoms of Vascular Dementia (cerebroVascular disease) and Lewy Body Dementia symptoms, but slower than usual in decline. Now 64 years old and dementia symptoms began my decline at 41, with lost occupation and driver’s license.

Very active in Dementia Mentors (but no longer Assistant Administrator). Panel Participant on Dementia Chats recorded "teaching" videos (available on YouTube). No longer on Advisory Council of Dementia Action Alliance (USA) but still a participant with some of their projects, and sometimes involved with Teepa Snow's teaching projects.

Tremors are common problem with both LBD (Lewy Body Dementia) and vascular dementia.

Extreme tremors are a problem for photography, actual painting, embroidery, etc. But i continue to enjoy digital art using the stabilizing tool of ProCreate application (which is why i invested in Apple Pencil and iPad in 2021).

With dementia, Every task just takes LOADS of time and much more energy to find strategies that will extend abilities to continue. … until that task is no longer possible and must change focus to tasks that ARE still possible.

Change is inevitable, so must work WITH it instead of against it.
