I love images of our strange and beautiful world. I don't favour any one kind -- I love diversity. When I follow another photographer, it is usually diverse images that attract my eye. If one of my photos is invited for display in a group, but I'm not invited to join, I will decline. I can't fathom the logic behind that.
I am based in Vancouver, but travel enough to see other sights with images I value.
I'm a music therapist part-time, playing and singing for kids and adults with disabilities. I study jazz guitar, teach blues and folk guitar classes to adults, read a lot of books and avoid the pitfalls of social media. Flickr is the one exception -- there's no fighting here.
I have been pursuing photography since the 70's, learning in the darkroom as I went. I was fortunate to work with a brilliant photographer, Lynn Phipps, who shot with an 8" x 10" Deardorff, She was a superb documentarian, developing and doing her own printing. We worked on several social documentary projects that were exhibited in Vancouver. I became her darkroom assistant and learned many things, including that I lacked the patience and perfectionism to become anything more than a hobbyist.
If you have read this far, and happen to have known Lynn in her San Francisco days, I would be very interested in hearing from you (it is a long shot, I know).
