I am fully retired now and no longer checking Flickr on a daily basis. Please be patient if I don’t respond promptly to your Comments and messages. I will get to it eventually; I’m just doing other things now.

I think that the best part of Flickr is interaction between photographers. I encourage you to Comment, ask Questions or send e-mail. I welcome all questions on equipment, technique or locations.
Please stop by and say "hello."
I have been interested in photography ever since I was old enough to hold a camera. My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic and my first serious camera was a Mamiya/Sekor 500TL 35mm camera. In 1969 I was fortunate to be able to buy the newly released Nikon Photomic FTN and I have been a dedicated Nikon photographer ever since.
I made the transition to digital photography in little baby steps; starting with a pocket point and shoot I bought to take hiking and backpacking, transitioning to a Nikon D40 (it was a deal I couldn’t pass up) and then a Nikon D200. I took the D200 on a two week photo shoot to the American Southwest and it delivered some fine images that I am proud to share. Be sure to check out my albums for this adventure.
When my son started competitive cycling I upgraded to a used Nikon D300s with MD-D10 battery grip and heavy duty EN-EL4a battery giving me 8 fps, faster AF and better low light capability than the D200. Along with the super-fast, super-sharp (but heavy) 70-200 f2.8 VR1 it delivered some great cycling images.
I eventually sold both the D40 and D200 and bought another D300s body as the used prices continued to drop.
I loved the D300s bodies but sometimes they were just too big and too heavy to lug around all day, especially when photography might not be the main focus (sic) of the day so I bought a used Nikon D3200 which became my lightweight “travel” camera and found it perfect to the task.
I eventually sold my D3200 and purchased one, then two D3300 bodies for travel. There was really nothing wrong with the D3200 except that it did not offer full support of the new AF-P lenses and I really wanted the Nikon 10-20 AF-P for use in dimly lit museums and historic places.
In the past two years I picked up both a D500 and D700 bodies and shoot them almost interchangeably depending on mood and subject matter.
I now photograph whatever I find interesting and hope you will enjoy my somewhat eclectic stream.
I own and use the following lenses:
Nikon AF-P DX 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 VR
Nikon AF-S DX 12-24mm f/4G ED IF-ED
Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX DC OS HSM (my “go-to” lens for most work)
Nikon AF-P DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR
Nikon AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR (lightweight and compact “travel” lens)
Nikon AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR
Nikon 35mm f/1.8 AFS-G DX
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AFS-G
Nikon 70-200 f/2.8G ED AF-S VR1 (sports, action and wildlife – often used with the TC 14e)
Nikon 70-300 f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR (when the 70-200 f2.8 zoom is just too heavy)
Nikon 85mm f/1.8 AFS-G (exquisite lens for portraits)
Nikon TC 14e ii (makes the 70-200 f2.8 a fine 280mm f4!)
