Would have stayed on the railway had it not been ruined by privatisation, As it was I left the railway as a Driver in 1995 and I have not looked back nor ever wanted to! The railway's loss (15 wasted years ) was another professions gain as I am now a senior medical researcher and after a number of years as a medical researcher I went and got my PhD so I could move upwards I was as a traction trainee then a second man at Newton Heath then I had an enjoyable 5+ years at Warrington as a secondman then as a relief driver before I moved to Springs Branch to get booked in Feb 86, then I vacated for pastures new. The railway that we are left with today is not a patch of the railway it once was!
