Howdy! I'm Trent Carroll. I grew up near Lampasas, Texas but I got to Amarillo as soon as I could! But first, I spent a few years in Lubbock at Texas Tech where I received a degree in Accounting. After ten years of that profession, and because of a "friendly" corporate takeover, I changed careers and became a railroader. After six years working as a switchman, brakeman, conductor and yardmaster for the Burlington Northern, I promoted to engineer and ran mostly coal trains between Amarillo and Texline. Fortunately, the BN and the Santa Fe merged right after I promoted and the employees in Amarillo received seniority on both roads. After 30 years, my last trip was to Wellington, Kansas and return to Amarillo when I retired in 2019. Now my wife and I spend 3 months or so a year travelling in our motor home. Being retired has enabled me to see and photograph many scenic railroad locations. We also spend as much time as possible with our grandsons; I also spend lots of time on the short wave radio, where I'm known as K5XM, my ham radio callsign.
I hope you'll enjoy my pix!
