Many years ago (many years ago!) I received a Masters Degree in photography and did a little professional work. So I have sold photographs but again that was many years ago. I did my masters thesis with a 4x5 camera and after that worked with a 35mm Minolta with a 50mm portrait lens. Recently I've only been photographing for pleasure with my iPhone but have been asked to photograph the new and developing Cass Turnbull memorial garden. I am interested in learning more about the latest equipment as I don't have photography equipment other than my iPhone! In addition to form and composition I love to show the play of light on objects in photographs but this is difficult to do with the iPhone which seems to use a lot of software to adjust the exposure.
I am a serious gardener so I like to photograph whatever is around me that is interesting which includes my garden. I was lucky enough to visit Ritsuren Garden, one of the greatest gardens in Japan. I was born in Seattle but was raised in the East Side mountains of San Jose California so was surrounded by natural settings as a child. It was beautiful then, not many fires. I am retired and currently live in Seattle near Greenlake and we yearly vacation on Orcas Island, another great place for photography.
