My hobbies often tend to be a bit excessive: gardens that are too ambitious, a record collection that could serve a library, sporting gear that gathers dust, etc. Photography as a hobby would seem to be a given… I could not begin to estimate the hours and dollars spent years ago with an SLR, trying to master the art of being a ‘novice’ photographer. Ultimately the camera and gear found its way to that forgotten closet shelf.

Some years later I picked up an Olympus point and shoot digital camera. A hobby was revived. I could shoot, download to the PC and shoot some more! This would seem to be a perfect scenario. Finally purchased a DSLR along with an array of lenses and some better gear. My technical skills have yet to catch up with my creativity but I’ve long enjoyed the process. Being nearly retired, I expect to become immersed in the journey.
