Vintage camera repairman and amateur scorpiologist. I exclusively shoot film on 35mm SLRs or 6X6 TLRs, with the latter category being comprised of cameras I have personally resurrected back into photographic service. Considering a majority of my medium format cameras are from the mid to late 1950s, it is simply not possible to find flawless copies which do not require some amount of love and care. These cameras are much loved articles which possess a nearly innumerable amount of scratches, dings, and stripped screw heads, but I am assuring their adventures continue well into the modern world, this time with me.
An overwhelming majority of my pictures are shot in the desert, in either color or black and white film which I develop myself. I have a particular compulsion for film which is mirrored in the subject matter I shoot. There are a great many desert towns which have been erased by interstates or the death of a local industry, and yet people remain, surrounded by monuments of a different time period altogether. There's a certain degree of sentimentality in gazing into an emptiness which was once filled, and perhaps filled quite dearly. To me, there is no sadness in these lost places. What is left behind both symbolizes what came before as well as what all will be; empty wind-torn ruins.
Also I like scorpions.
