As you can probably tell, I’m a fully certified train nerd. It all started in the mid-70s when I was 10, diesel engines, free time, and zero cool factor. The obsession ran full throttle into the early ’80s until 1982, when I discovered the holy trinity of teenage distractions: girls, cars, and life. Then came the usual stuff, work, marriage, kids and my railway passion got parked in the sidings. Fast forward to 2020: lockdown boredom + attic clean-out = rediscovery of my old train photos, taken with my trusty Praktica MTL3. Nostalgia hit hard, and just like that, Railway Photography Phase II was born. Now I’m back on the tracks with a Pentax K70, yes, Pentax, I like to live dangerously, capturing trains galore. Thanks to everyone who follows or hits “favourite”! In the world of rail photography, each favourite feels like finding a fiver in an old coat pocket. Anyway, enough waffle, enjoy the ride!
