VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPHY
I live on a small island off the south coast of England, the Isle of Wight, together with my wife and young son. I've loved and worked with photography for most of my 50 plus years. Until the pandemic hit I was also a manager at an island charity for the homeless and underprivileged but the virus brought that to an end. On a small island you need to adapt quickly to changing circumstances so now I drive a taxi most days. Next to me in my cab is always my trusty Nikon Z6 and a couple of lenses, waiting for me to get a few minutes between rides to jump out and rattle off a couple of shots which I'll edit later that evening. This Flickr feed mostly consists of those snapshots I capture around the island between jobs.
Vintage Photography is a small company I own and run. In order to create images slightly different to those marketed by most photographers, I use vintage and specialist legacy lenses. These lenses are mostly as sharp as their modern counterparts but they each bring into the images their own unique characteristics, often giving the images a rather "vintage" feel. I don't use film but instead one of the latest digital mirrorless cameras so files can be delivered as quickly and efficiently as ever but those files, for the most part, will all be created in fully manual mode using manual focus lenses from a bygone era. Many of the test shots I take with newly acquired vintage lenses are also posted here as I tend to want to test them during the day when the light is at its best. I hope you enjoy what I do at vintagephotography.co.uk/ and do follow the feed so I can also follow you and see your work.
