I am a hobbyist photographer who enjoys the art of photography in both film and digital. I photograph livestock, landscapes, wildlife, architecture, street photography, people in different scenarios, weddings, events, portraiture, model/apparel, family and pets. I also photograph product. Photography for me has been a fun and interesting way to document everyday life, capturing it in a moment in time.
My digital DSLM (mirrorless) cameras consist of the Sony a7IV, the Sony a6100 and the Olympus OM-D EM-10 Mark II. I also own the Olympus Evolt E-520 DSLR. My film SLR cameras are the Canon AE-1, Canon FTb QL, Minolta SRT-303, the iconic Nikon F, Olympus OM-2SP Spot Program, and the Olympus OM 1n. I use prime lenses on all my cameras, as well as zoom lenses. I shoot in both color and black and white, with a preference for Kodak and Ilford film in my 35mm SLR cameras. I photograph everything that I find interesting, being fascinated by the shapes of things that are affected by light, shadows, colors, textures, lines and the objects themselves along with interesting compositions.
I find film photography to be incredibly fun, nostalgic, and so hands-on! I thoroughly enjoy the process of loading 35mm film into vintage SLR cameras. The heavy weight of these old "built like a tank" mechanical cameras made mostly of metal, along with the mechanical sounds they make while advancing the film, pressing the shutter release button and having only the option of manually focusing the lens, which is so absolutely different from digital photography makes shooting with these machines from the past very interesting and a true pleasure to photograph with!
After finishing a roll of film, I take the film to the lab and get my negatives and 4" x 6" prints back. I then scan my negatives at home into my computer using my Epson V600 film scanner and then matching the prints.
With my newer mirrorless cameras, I'm learning what a powerfull tool they are in getting exceptional dynamic range, excellent focus and seeing exactly what I will get in the viewfinder before I take the shot.
I hope you will enjoy viewing my photography.
