A retired Chemistry teacher. Based in Epping just outside NE London. I used to own two 35mm film cameras (Minolta SRT101) but disposed of them when I bought a compact digital camera. However, this did not give me the flexibility of an SLR. Recently I discovered a kingfisher's nest on the River Lee near my home and that prompted me to renew my passion for bird photography so I bought a Canon EOS 2000D and a 70-300mm zoom lens. A holiday in mid Wales included a trip to Gigrin Farm near Rhayader where I photographed red kites and a buzzard during 'feeding time'! The ability to store hundreds of shots on a memory card is a huge improvement on the 36 images on a roll of 35mm film!

Visits to RSPB Rye Meads, which is a short car journey from home, inspired me to invest in more photo equipment and resulted in the purchase of a Sigma 150-600mm lens and a new tripod and gimbal head. As I get my head round the various possibilities of manual and auto settings of aperture, shutter speed, ISO and auto focus settings, I am constantly trying to improve the images I capture. Comments, especially constructive criticism, are always welcome!

Now upgraded my camera to a EOS 90d to get a faster frame rate, more focus points and back button focusing.

Sigma 150-600 sold in part exchange for a second hand Canon 500mm f4 EF for a better quality image .
