As of March 2024, I am using Flickr exclusively for showing my paintings. I have recently taken up painting again after a near 50 year lay off, so please be gentle with me as I am still very much an improver......I am going to leave some of my photographs on here as well (for now), but my main photography collection can be found here www.flickr.com/photos/x_engineer/.

In broad terms, most of my paintings are surrealist in nature, occasionally verging on abstract expressionism, and very rarely actually mean anything. My general approach is exploratory and improvisational, but however you like to categorise my work or talk about genre, influences (Picasso, Miro, a bit of Dali, a bit of Ernst and a hint of Chagall plus quite a few others) or meaning, all I really want to do is to produce something that expresses what I was thinking and/or feeling at the time. I do paint figuratively on odd occasions, but only when the mood takes me.

For the record, there is no AI trickery going on here, all my paintings are produced with brushes, paint (watercolour, gouache and acrylic) and paper, plus a great deal of love, care, attention to detail and patience. Upon completion, I photograph the paintings with a decent camera, crop the images to the boundary of the paper, and then upload them warts and all. There is no postprocessing of the photographs.
