Please note that I only post paintings that I painted myself. This includes all the Disney and Mattel work. The remaining photos I either took myself or scanned from my immediate family archives. Feel free to send me a PM. My family seemed to always have a camera, so I'm slowly going through the thousands of negatives/slides and scanning/posting the best ones. I use a Epson Perfection V850.
Retired Illustrator I'm by no means a pro photographer, but having to shoot models for numerous jobs over the years and having a best friend who's a Brooks institute grad doesn't hurt. She helped me with basic lighting. I had a nice studio back in the day (see image somewhere in here) with pro lighting.
I worked in the movie and video industry for over 40 years. I've painted over 2,000 jobs for Disney. If you own DVD's or VHS tapes of their animated movies, you've seen my art on the covers. I've also worked for Universal, Mattel, Fox, Columbia, Dreamworks, Time Magazine, Random House, Marvel, Funko, and many more. One of my first jobs with Disney was painting the VHS cover for Mary Poppins. I had to paint the animated characters and background on a photo print they provided of the two main characters. That was back when VHS was first invented, and the whole of Disney Home Video was in a tiny trailer with maybe 8 art directors crammed into it. At least it was on the lot so I could explore.
My website is my name which you'll have to discover yourself. If you wish to purchase rights to any of these images, you can find my email there. (Not all are available-certainly not any Disney or Mattel pieces).
I've always had a fascination with human faces and portraits, so you'll find many of them here. I made my living for many years working for the movie industry painting 'comps'. These were black and white illustrations of movie poster ideas. Every big budget movie hired one or more artists who could paint likenesses of stars to paint these idea comps. Then they'd narrow it down to one or two and ask us to paint a full color final. This also applied to the whole video industry, when movies started to be released in that format.
There were always models and friends of my daughter around. Hence all the photos of kids. I also had a few closets full of costumes, and you know how kids are when that is available. I spent more time cleaning up the piles of clothes, than I did painting!
