In September 1942, approximately 500 boys interested in Cadet Corps assembled on the field in front of Thomas Jefferson High School.
They formed one single line with the tallest on one end and the shortest on the other. They were divided into six companies and two battalions.
Cadet Juniors from John Marshall High School were invited to enroll at TJ to become senior officers. To entice them, they were promised diplomas from both schools.
Approximately 2500 students experienced military life between 1942 - 1971 at this iconic high school in the west end of Richmond, VA.
At its height, the Corps consisted of two Battalions, six Rifle Companies, Staff and Cadet Band.
The purpose of this site is to "keep this memory alive". It is dedicated to all who served in the Corps.
