I've always loved taking photos and in 2020, after realizing I wanted a different career path, I decided to take photography more seriously. I was still just using my iPhone but putting more thought into the photos I took and exploring editing options. In January 2021, I purchased a Canon Rebel T5. A model that was 7-8 years old but had barely been used by its original owner. A perfect tool to learning the ways of the DSLR!

I am from West Des Moines, Iowa and moved to Lawrence, Kansas where I attended the University of Kansas. After working at KU for a few years, I quit my job to work for my boyfriend's website development company doing all the things that weren't designing or developing websites (internal comms, social media, email marketing, HR, etc.). The company evolved and eventually I took on other clients managing social media marketing. We were both working remotely when we got married in 2014 and realized there was nothing holding us to Lawrence, Kansas (we didn't even own a house) so we bought a pop up camper and by August 2015 were living and traveling in that full-time! It was a life-changing experience. We had our daughter in November 2018 growing the Mareu household. As of October 2019, we decided to be house-dwellers again. We spent 14 months in Wilmington, North Carolina before moving back to Lawrence Kansas in February 2021 (we were still working remotely and could be closer to family and friends).

My desire to be on the road again seeing beautiful places and taking photographs of this beautiful country is still very high. So the future will not be cookie-cutter, that's for sure.
