I am an archivist and deal mainly with other people's photography and see photography from an industry standpoint. I found my way to film and photography through producing art myself and this is still important to me, although I am not a professional artist. I always drew a lot and took some pictures but over the years photography and especially the process of analog photography helped me to understand the world I live in better. For me taking pictures is not a hobby it simply helps me to understand my surroundings, with my pictures I produce meaning of places and people, and I see the camera as a device that helps me with that. Another important part is the many variables and steps in analog processing, they function as an element of surprise for me. To some people that would mean limitation, I found in these restrictions more freedom because I have to let go of control. I am inspired by modern aesthetics: I like night shootings, flash, color alterations with filters, strong grain, multiple exposures and I make use of photoshop as little as possible. I also do my own printing, if you like you can check them out over my etsy shop.
I use my Nikon F2 with a Nikkor 50 mm lens, my 4x5 Linhof Technika, my Canon T 70, my Olympus 35 RC and I very seldomly make use of my Panasonic Lumix G. I make b&w prints at home or scan with my Epson V600 scanner.
