My name is Ruth Hollis and I have a great passion for Art and Design. With a particular interest in graphics and product design, I have discovered my love for designing merchandise, branding and logo design. During my course, at Solihull Sixth form College, I have been able to overcome challenges and have developed new skills in response to critical evaluation from tutors, peers and myself. This has allowed me to produce a higher standard of work, which I hope to develop further in higher education. My course has allowed me to gain new skills and work with new materials including; Lino printing, mono printing, etching, weaving, stitching and batique. My preferred medias are acrylics, pencils and oil paints.

In my spare time, I produce commissions for personalised clothing and shoes as well as custom paintings. I sell these on Depop as well as being asked by colleagues at work and family friends, to create unique pieces of artwork. Additionally, I have recently been asked to create a design for a skating brand, where my design will eventually be printed on to t-shirts and tote bags. This has been a valuable experience for me and has provided an insight into aspects of the product design industry.

Throughout my college course, my mindset towards art has been shaped and developed by valuable experiences and insights from tutors and fellow artists in a variety of settings. I look forward to experiences and opportunities in a new environment, specialising in an area that I love.
