I guess I've used cameras for almost as long as I can remember. First experiences were with a half frame Konica EYE which I still have, and still works. That would be in the late 1960s.

My first SLR was Cosina CSR, which had wonderful 50mm and 28mm lenses, but I traded this for an ESPIO compact camera for my mother whilst I used a Pentax MX, purchased in 1979. This is the camera I use now as I return to film.

I've started developing my films and scanning the negatives at home. I'd always sent the films off to a lab to be developed and returned with a contact sheet. I'd then use a darkroom to make prints.

With marriage, children and lack of disposable income a digital Canon Powershot became the camera I used and the Pentax MX sat idle for the best part of 30 years. The Canon Powershot was then replaced with Nikon dSLR cameras. Initially this was just for fun, but then it became my sole source of income for about 10 years until family commitments caused me to close my business. Portrait, product, event and property photography were the main sources of income using Nikon D800s.

Even though photography was a job I still had it as a hobby. Now that I'm retired I have more time to enjoy the craft of photography both digital and analogue. I'm by no means expert and hope to engage with other enthusiastic photographers on here to learn from their experiences and improve my skills.
