My name is Edward Newton.**
My love of photography as an art is really based around black and white photography. I just love the look of those early photographs, and so I would really like to explore this type specifically. Edward Steichen is one of my favourite early 20th century photographers. This is not to say I don't have favorites when it comes to color photography, but for me part of the discipline of learning this craft will be to restrict myself to black and whites. Two of my absolute modern day photography heroes are Michael Kenna and Sebastião Salgado. Both these photographers decided to limit themselves to monochromes. So here we go. I can't promise much to start, but I look forward to sharing with you.
I will be using this page to experiment with shots, especially using my small compact camera that has been converted for Infra red.

This is so you know Edward is not stealing his pictures. Edward Newton was involved in an experiment to examine the nature of "Explore" on Flickr. His report is written up here in "All Aboard the Explore Train: A forensic investigation" - www.flickr.com/groups/anti_bot_anti_fake_photo/discuss/72...

I really like your photographs, they are more than just pictures. Black and white fascinates me too, but I practice colors because I feel close to painting, I am a colorist. However, black and white is by far more intimate with the essence of photography itself.
