A rank amateur, in 1972-1974 I wandered around the USSR, Greece, Paris, and Venice for dissertation research snapping photos with my Minolta and roll after roll of film. After my return, I put my camera and lenses away and concentrated on my 42 years career at the Library of Congress. Then, in 2002 I bought my first Canon digital camera to use for what turned out to be a magical stay in Rome. I was hooked! I have ever since wandered the neighborhoods of Washington, DC, snapping photos along the way, and documented my various trips abroad. Retired now, my days during the pandemic have been filled with long walks trying to soak in all the fantastic color of the mercifully beautiful Spring and Summer months during this isolation. Washington has not disappointed.

Because of back and neck injuries I use a single lens camera. My old Canon G16 is in need of replacement and I am searching for something that I can carry which also has a larger sensor. I yearn for one without gimmicks. Just the basics which would allow me to set the controls. The hunt continues!
