Based in Massachusetts, USA, Janet exhibits widely. MacCausland has been recognized by the National Association of Nature Photographs of America, The International Color Awards, Audubon’s “Share the View”, The Plymouth Art Center, The Wickford Art Association, and others. Her work has been published in National Geographic Books, multiple National Association of Nature Photographers of America’s annual “Showcase” and WAA “Poetry & Art” books; also the Green Mountain Trading Post, the Boston Globe Sunday Edition, the Cape Cod Standard Times and others.

Janet’s father introduced her to the basic workings of a camera and darkroom at the age of 15. She earned a BFA from Moore College of Art at the top of her class. Additionally, Janet has studied at Massachusetts College of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, and The Boston School of Photography. In 1984 Janet was certified to SCUBA dive and is a self-taught & skilled underwater photographer. MacCausland has taught at Rhode Island School of Design and Bristol – Plymouth Regional Technical School. MacCausland presents still and video augmented talks for private clubs, organizations and Audubon sanctuaries. Her conservation concerns include work with the local Herring Commission.
