I've been involved off and on in the photographic industry for many years, I trained as a darkroom technician working in all formats from 35mm to 5x4 and there have been many times where I have saved some dodgy negs and spared a photographer some embarrassing moments!

In the old days I could look at a neg with the naked eye and know exactly what exposure to give under the enlarger, I seldom used an analyser and always processed fully by hand so this "new" technology of Photoshop is a whole new ball game and it takes some getting used to.

Despite all this experience most of my involvement in photography was behind the scenes with very little experience in the actual taking stage.

I left the industry at the start of the digital age and went off to pursue a musical career although I always maintained interest in my hobby and would often take my cameras out of the case just to be holding them.

Thanks to the Covid lockdown I turned to my camera as a way of easing the boredom and inspired by my brother in law who turns out some stunning shots I set off with my gear in search of subjects.

I am still very much at the experimental stage, I have a passion for landscapes and macro and I enjoy tabletop stuff, taking everyday items from around the house and presenting them in an artistic way.

I also love monochrome and will quite often convert a picture because it looks better in black and white.

I currently use a Canon 50D which is past it's sell by date but I love her to bits.

I also still have my film stock, a complete Olympus OM system with lenses, a Bronica ETRS with lenses ranging from wide to telephoto and a Mamiya 330 TLR with lenses ranging from wide to telephoto.

My favourite photographers are Ansel Adams, Don McCullin, Frank Hurley, Fay Godwin and Danny Hollands.
