In 2019 I bought a small photo album from a dealer in Eugene OR. This is it, scanned. The photos are glued in and it has buckled several of the pages, so you'll see there are faults with the scanning where I couldn't flatten them (once I upload this I'm going to put them in the press to see if they will flatten).

There is no foxing or mold as far as I can tell, but there is quite a lot of silvering and many of the images include dust, blots, and tears that would have been in the negatives. Most of them have dust and fibres adhered to the surface by atmospheric moisture. Two show minor water damage.

cover 20 x 14 cm

pages 19 x 13.5 cm

boards front and back, covered in brown canvas

endpapers same paper as pages

paper high rag content black

23 sheets, stapled and glued

The age of the photos is luckily quite clear, there are references to the class of 1905 in a couple of them. The dress and age of the people in the images remains fairly consistent throughout.

The general location is likely Whatcom County in northern Washington state, USA. Two schools are mentioned, one Kendall (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kendall,_Washington), and the other Roeder. There is a school in Bellingham named Roeder (pcad.lib.washington.edu/building/20205/), with a brick building dated 1908, while the photo mentioning Roeder is dated 1905, but it seems quite plausible that it's the same school just not the same building; or perhaps it's another altogether. He was something of a local celebrity, and had recently passed away. One photo shows a dockside scene that is either in Vancouver or Victoria, BC, Canada.

I'm putting these scans here as a convenient repository while I research them. I'm pretty sure there is nothing in any of them that is likely to cause copyright complaints but I'm not a lawyer etc etc - however, these scans *are* copyright, so if you want to use them for something commercial please let me know and we can work out a deal. For each page you'll find the raw scan, with the individual photos cropped and rendered in greyscale - IMO they're lovely in the original, but the greyscale rendering often brings out details you could not see otherwise. Of course if you have any information to share please feel free to leave a comment or message.
