Photography is an art of capture and release. Like a rare hunter, the photographer captures something from the real world, but immediately releases it with a new sense, a new meaning, a new concept. Therein lies the politics of photography, in which the subjectivity of the photographer and the objectivity of the existent and material are always embraced one another. Spontaneous or highly elaborated, the art of photography cannot deny, therefore, life or reality: thus begins the dialectic of its honesty.
