Drag to set position!
I am a keen landscape photographer that is feeling a bit of cabin fever. For many people, including those of us who love photography this is now our new normal - for the next few months at least. To keep active - mentally and physically I am walking into Weston Woods, and Sand Bay and visiting local nature reserves within a 30 minute drive to photograph the changing flowers in these wild places.
This flickr account contains some woodland, meadow, coastal and hedgerrow images of scenery and wild flowers alongside some macro shots of the insects. All the images were taken either on a Nikon D850 and a Fujifilm XT20 with a variety of lens ranging from 10mm to 600mm. Extension tubes have been used on the macro shots. Exposure was always determined manually by adjusting shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Processing was undertaken in Photoshop CC and in Capture One V 11.
Additional details about the conditions, light levels and shooting positions have been added to give further insight as to how the different photographs were created. I have also pointed out the weaknesses in the shots and offered alternative ways to take the picture.
I only carry the minimum of equipment, a single camera with a single lens. I leave tripods, cable releases, filters and all manner of accessories at home. If I have the wrong lens I make a mental note to revisit on another day with more suitable equipment. I shoot what I see as part of my daily walk. I try to get down low to capture of essence of the flower. In some cases this can be quite challenging.
I hope you enjoy the images , keep safe and please follow me.
