To showcase my coursework for 'Final Major Project' I have made a blog page
Statement of intent:As part of my final major project I wish to focus on the basis of 'Human behaviour' and how I can explore on it. This main idea originally came from my pathway project on ‘Consumerism’, where I delve into the meaning of the word Consumerism, as well as the issues we face in the fashion industry today. I think by extending this initial idea from pathway whilst adding on new elements it conveys growth in my work. In my last project I produced a mock-up zine that was associated with the project but for the final major project my aim is to make a well-produced zine that is perfectly crafted. My end point is to introduce some textile features to my final piece that can be merged with the digital sectors like photography and Illustrator so I can be able to provide a variety of mixed media to my work.
For every project that is being made or produced it is essential to have a form of reference that can back up my main idea. From my last project I was inspired by the German photographer Michael Wolf's 'Tokyo Compression' project I was captivated by the way he was able to capture these unique yet sad images. How this artist links to my current project is how Michael was able to express how draining and suffocating life can be going to work in a packed subway during rush hour. My plan is to think outside of the box with the way I produce this final outcome I don't want my end point to be at all generic on the way we initially think of human behaviour. I also want to explore the different styles and techniques in photography, so I plan to visit photographer's gallery, the Tim Walker exhibition and more.
Due to COVID-19 there has been a slight set back with my plan. Originally, I have planned to go to more places around London to monitor people’s behaviour but due to lockdown with everyone staying at home it's been harder to do more photography or photoshoots. However, the advantages of this current situation is that I can explore the negative impact of COVID-19 and how it has effected people’s lives like visiting supermarkets, parks and streets to take a few pictures of how businesses have been effected by this outbreak. Regarding my idea of linking Human Behaviour to Psychedelics from home I plan to do digital experiments on illustrator and on Photoshop using the photos I have taken from my visit to supermarkets and parks during the outbreak. I also plan to do a photoshoot using myself as the model and how I can somehow link psychedelics and human behaviour.
Throughout this project I plan to use my reflective diary and the reviews on Flickr as well as group chats as a method of receiving critics for method and self assessments. I will also be taking advice from my teachers by sending emails of my work to keep them updated.
