This account showcases the work of my Great Grandfather, William Edward Wright, (b 1852) who worked as a photographer in Forest Gate, Essex (E7) in Victorian and Edwardian times. His first studio was in Sebert Rd, Forest Gate but he quickly moved his main studio to Woodgrange Road. He then opened studios in Leyton, Walthamstow, Ilford, Seven Kings and Romford. The family's last studio was in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, run by my Grandfather, Charles Wright, before he became an optician.

You can read more about his life in this blog put together by my friend John Walker on his E7 Now and Then website

Unfortunately photographers used a numbering system for their work which means I only have names in a very few cases where family members have scribbled them on the back. Where possible I have kept these family names together. I am also transitioning to using my GG's numbering system as this may indicate family links where numbers are concurrent.

I have also included some local postcards (photos usually not taken by Wright) to set the scene of the day.

I hope this is a useful resource for those tracing their family trees, as well as those studying work, social, fashion and geographical history of the day.
