I was born 1946 and grew up in a small, somewhat remote Austrian mountain village. My father was an amateur photographer and bought me my own camera, a Dacora Digna, very early on. So I started taking pictures as a child and sometimes someone would take the film to town to be developed. And when I held my own prints in my hand, it was a great joy for me in my simple life. Maybe that's why I still have no real interest in scans today, but only really enjoy prints.
I never lost my interest, but there were always longer and shorter interruptions in my photography, and even after I sold my company in 1995, I was fully absorbed in meditation at first and didn't think about photography for a while. It was only when I saw a great B/W large-format poster on a wall by chance one day that it hit me like a bolt of lightning and I suddenly knew how I would spend all my free time in the future.
I can say that I take a lot of pictures, in fact far too many. I'm like a child at it and it's become an addiction. I have an extensive archive, but I can only print a very small selection of my negatives on paper. And even of these, I only upload a minimal selection, which I choose every day spontaneously, according to my current mood and desire.
Thank you for your favs and comments, they always encourage me to keep going.
