Drag to set position!
Tanya Krzywinska is an alumnus of the Newlyn Art School mentoring program. She has spent (too) many years teaching within Higher Education, lecturing on film and digital games design in London and later on in Cornwall where she has been a research professor in the Games Academy at Falmouth University. Tanya has been living in Cornwall for the past 10 years and has been painting for 6; she has recently become part-time in her job to allow her to develop her painting and focus on creating a body of work for exhibition. Her work is mainly figurative and she has been working on a series of paintings around the theme of 'inside-out/outside-in', where interiors and exteriors, material and immaterial, subject and object become ambiguous. She draws on a combination of myth, fairy tales and women's experience in her work and is driven to observe the play of light and shadow. She is inspired by Paula Rego, Maya Deren, Odd Nerdrum, Velasquez, Leonora Carrington, and Kate Walters.
