Well, you certainly complied with your quote at the top. A lovely selection of excellent photos of interesting things. But I disagree with the quote. I think you would be a good photographer without choosing more interesting stuff. The thing that has amazed me in my years of taking photography seriously and from looking at Flickr is the extent to which we can always find something interesting to shoot. Sometimes when I have to wait for a while I set myself the task of finding five things worth photographic from the place I am seated. I rarely fail.
