Hi!

I’m Davina.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet over here on Flickr. Please come on in, take a seat and make yourself comfortable whilst I tell you a bit about myself.

For the most part, I’m a typically regular middle-aged guy navigating my way through life and it’s various ups, downs and occasional detours. I have a mortgage, I work in IT as a Consultant and travel extensively for work (both in the UK and, occasionally, internationally. Nope, the international thing isn’t as exciting or as glamorous as you might think, but it turns out I don’t mind flying and I have learnt how to sleep on a flight), spending way too much time in hotels (I sometimes wonder – does that make me a professional hotel guest?), and far too much time in my car, but at least it’s a nice (and comfortable) car…

I enjoy cinema, reading, music, good quality imported TV shows (Yes, I was disappointed with the final season of Game of Thrones) and Sci-Fi including both Star Wars and Star Trek (I know the rules say you’re only supposed to like one or the other!) and building scale models. I’m also a PC Gamer. I’ve never really been a fan of football, or most other sports for that matter – OK, maybe I’m not that typical after all…

But just occasionally, I find I have an itch that needs to be scratched and a desire to explore a more interesting side of myself. Why? I have no idea and I certainly can’t explain it beyond it being an escape from the tedium and mundanity that sometimes crops up in day-to-day life…

So, taking a little trip down memory lane…

I first experimented with dressing back in my early 20s when I was at university and would make use of dressing services – Mainly through the now, seemingly, defunct Transformation (I know, I know…). Following my various graduations (Yep – I hold a degree, 2 degree equivalent qualifications and various professional certifications and memberships) and then settling into my career, I found that I made less use of such services as the travelling, work and life-in-general got in the way. Having said that, I did still manage to dress on the rare occasions that I was able to find a “local” dressing service within a reasonable commute of wherever I happened to be working at the time. Finally, stopping completely way back in late 2001…

Now fast forward to late December 2019…

Time continues to move on and I now find myself in my late 40s (still on the sunny side of 50 – just…) and that my personal circumstances have changed somewhat providing me with greater freedom and opportunities to explore this side of myself more often – work/travel commitments permitting (that pesky professional hotel guest thing again…)

I’m tall. No, scratch that – I’m very tall at 6’ 3” in my stockinged feet. I also need to lose some weight (too much good food and time spent in very nice hotel restaurants…), so passing convincingly will be a major challenge for me if I ever decide to brave heading out whilst dressed. I have recently started a diet and try to walk around 2 – 3 miles every day, which is already paying off with a weight loss of just over 36lbs in 2 months. I do still need to lose more – Ideally, about another 42lbs. I’m also hoping to begin using a C25K type app to start running in the near future…

It’s still very early for me and my return to exploring this aspect of myself – I know I have a lot to learn and need to start building up a wardrobe (slowly, figuring out what does and doesn’t work for me), makeup kit and shapewear for that feminine silhouette.

For now, I’m content to explore this aspect of myself through dressing services, once again, to get an idea of what’s possible. I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy 2 makeovers with the wonderful and amazingly talented Cindy at BoysWillBeGirls and have to say that I’ve been truly amazed by the results. Both makeovers have been far, far superior to anything I’ve experienced in the past – The first one (in October 2019) was good (all things considered), but the second one (in December 2019) was much, much better given my weight loss and taking the time to prepare properly (the hair removal thing – Surprisingly not as irritating as I thought it would be!). This opened up a wider selection of outfits from Cindy’s extensive wardrobe. Of course, there’s still plenty of room for improvement (meaning me!) and I’m sure that the results of my next makeover will be better again.

I've tried to have a little fun with the titles and descriptions that I have added to the photos.

Anyway, I’m not really much of a wordsmith, so I think I’ll leave it here for now.

I almost forgot – One last thing before I go – Some polite requests or ground rules if you prefer to think of them that way. These are my wishes, please do me the courtesy of respecting them.

* I’m not the most confident of people, so I am going out on a limb by sharing my photos – I have ONLY posted them on Flickr in an attempt to document exploring this aspect of myself and hopefully gaining further confidence through supportive, positive, encouraging and constructive comments. PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR REPOST MY PHOTOS ANYWHERE ELSE.

* FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT: I have given Cindy permission to post a selection of the photos from my recent makeovers on her galleries. PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR REPOST THESE PHOTOS ANYWHERE ELSE.

* If you are considering commenting or posting a complement on any of my photos – Thank you, that is most kind of you! However, please consider the following:

* Supportive, positive, encouraging and constructive comments will be welcomed

* APPROPRIATE (Polite, clean and respectful) complements will also be welcomed and appreciated

* ANYTHING THAT I CONSIDER TO BE OUTSIDE THOSE GUIDELINES OR EVEN SLIGHTLY INAPPROPRIATE WILL RESULT IN YOU BEING BLOCKED

* If you are kind enough to flag any of my photos as a favourite, please consider leaving a comment explaining why – Again, please make sure it is APPROPRIATE (See Above).

Thanks for taking the time to read through my thoughts and musings (or should that be ramblings?).

Davina.
