TED is a non-profit organization with the mission of Ideas Worth Spreading. TEDxYouth@JNIS was organised on the 19th December by the grade 12 students of Jamnabai Narsee International School. The theme for the event was New To Normal, which embraces the idea of change and normalization and is geared towards dismantling the facade constructed by the ignorance of society.
Our student speaker Disha Bafna questioned the very notions of the concepts of normality and uniqueness and shed light on the fine line separating the two.
Anaheeta Goenka urged students to practice New To Normal actively in 3 sharp ways by propounding “new to culture” “new to society” and “new to nation.”
Ishana Khanna, our LGBTQIA+ activist discusses concepts of internalisation and societal norms that we have been conditioned to believe.
Anju Kish, attempts to “UnTaboo” the subject of sex education to create awareness about the positive impact it can have in the life of our children and society.
Aman Khandelwal discusses the absolute standard of physical attractiveness that has become closely tied to the idea of self-confidence.
Michelle Shah aims to educate and inspire, but most importantly empower underprivileged adolescent girls by giving them the skills required to be economically and socially independent.
