Hi, Im an Artist, with a lifelong passion for imaging.PhotoGraphy; its the art of Chasing the LIGHT..In 1967 ,or 68, when I got to NYC., I bought my first good camera,A Nikkormat FTN. BTW.- I couldn't get in after the login changes,So,Finally I piggybacked IN Now, - This IS a huge resource, for MY Lens, research, .Im hunting OLD;Lenses, I have many Nikon F lenses, and the screwmounts, In my opinion NIKON F lenses ; Just deliver, the Great Memorable shots,You Have to MAKE the images, work out. Now,about todays newest wunderplastiks of Nikon? The Chinese stuff -Auto Focus? Yeah; Not so much love here.Wheres the F stop?IT went??WHERE??in the F series-These apertures are really industrial expedients, for high speed-Motor-Battering, at the expense of lovely Bokeh ..Lately; Im hunting for Those Bokeh effects. ... lenses I use; Nikons,Leicas,Minolta,M42; Pentax; C mount,E39; even MS Optics.A few oldies,Ricoh,Pentacon,Fuji Revuenon, all M 42's. Now pin drives are slightly harder to deploy.I collect Lenses; Its fun to try out new ones. One lens was sold to me as a Screwmount, but it was a Exacta bayonet? & THAT just dosnt fit anything Id own, but today China makes adapters for this > to my ,XF Fuji,& Nikons, and I can shoot that on most of my cameras, This IS just too much fun,Really.BOKEH lenses.!! fantastiK-BOKeh.
What we need IS More diversity and more extremely exotic,DESIGNS for NICHE lenses,Now, all the big Companies have them, but don't make,& take them to the market, what a shame, bring IT ON.
Cameras are just boxes, to attach lenses TO &,not important, in themselves, really- a lesson we learn daily in digital, as every SINGLE/ Passing ,year we are antiquated. & at the end of 3 or,4 years NO really; NO serious shooter would wear /let alone shoot; that>ITS -SO, OLD!!Antique Cameras. One needlessly trades up, BUT is it necessary?in the history of shooting , Well; actually NO. Im becoming antique & ALL of my favorite lenses are, as well. Reality, I used out of date cameras/Leica /for film ALL THE TIME.so did ALL of my professional friends,Its about what YOU become used TO,& can understand &
use effectively to make that IMAGE. When, I shipped my XT1 for a cleaning, to get the bugger residing in-between the sensor cover ; I just, bought another, XT1 body; thats before the DF, Nikkon
which I bought before surgerys, so Id have something to distract me while I Convalesced. The DF is great; But suffers from too much over programming,& way too small a older lens capacity>really. The XT1's actually, fit Virtually >every lens in my collection Except a? D Mount /cine? I cant find an adapter for>any help on this would be great. Lenses, well theres , a lot, but /over 60,but who counts..People give them to me, I trade and I buy & They are fun, and its a research I can do here on FLICKR, too well. These days Im after interesting, Bokeh lenses W/short DOF,& anything SONNAR.. with a cataract condition,And the Benign essential tremor; I will do the best I can.I shoot 6X ,and find one which is sharp.I just got a adapter for Nikon,Lens, for the APSC & WITH!! NO fudge FACTORS.So,IM Math free ; TADA!!.I will post like UNDER> 1% of my shootings, its a matter of time and space.
Id describe what I DO as "Fixing Light & Chasing Shadows". I also take some conventional pictures, and my paintings & sculptures. The KATS, we now had 3 rescued FurBabys, lost 2 so sad.I lost Buddy McBoy and Sweet Boy.Very hard.we still have miss kitty but she isnt a cuddly character. For me photography is a passionate indulgence ;Using & trying out lenses, in the Fleeting and somewhat elusive light of days.
If I tell you, you wont even believe.really. I have no editing skills,ZERO interest it tying myself to this machine. I adjust the light to duplicate what I saw, and thats about it.My relationship with computers is complex, but they're just tools.I don't really like them, but I have to use them.I try to keep it simple and Photography IS one of my GREAT escapes.
Anybody need darkroom gear, I have a loads, trade me lenses.I hate the darkroom, too many hours in the dark..Back in the day I ran 2,one at my School.
Becouse I was a teacher in my work/life;I had to go to school to maintain my license.Mostly I took classes in Jewelry Metals; so I could work on my projects..For my MFA Thesis I painted,But, I could have done it with sculpture or photography..
If you know how to adjust those aperture pins in M42 lenses-DO tell me about it.I solved it; but lost infinity...so Ill try a plastic Or s metal;shim/Jaming it in place, next.My current project is repairing a gifted 28 Nikkor, optically ok, but the filter ring is totally, Bashed in, Im gently hammering the ring out with small blocks of wood and a jewelry hammer.
Im shocked by Schlock,Shots/ REALLY just>Wake up and edit , Be far more rigorous!! Less then 10 % of a normal shoot is at the Peak of any activity shoot ; based, on,My experience in 40+ years of shooting.
BTW there are SO, SO, many great pictures here>Its great.
A email for me, is frankgavere@gmail.com, please use that one.I go there about 2x weekly, yeah.&;I DO apologize for my wordiness, it is a lifelong issue.
Thanks for the visit
Frank Gavere, MFA.
