I started out here on flickr uploading pictures from various trips I've taken over my life, as I used to travel for a living and now just enjoy travel several times a year. In the past, I've always carried a P&S, I always have enjoyed "taking pictures".

I remember my journey with photoraphy started by googling what an f-stop was. I began educating myself on the basics on the Internet. One of my purchases in March 2009 was a 20 year old manual fast prime 50mm Nikon E Series lens, so that I would be forced to learn light metering by eye, feeling the aperature for the depth I wanted to create, framing the picture with my feet, and judging the shutter by where and how much light I was seeing.

I'm still very much a student, amateur, tinkerer - of photography, constantly learning as much as I can daily. By trade, however, I am an IT Consultant.

I enjoy photography as a challenge and an expression of how I saw the world at that moment through my eyes, and then my lens, and so most all of my photography is done in nature, my animal/insect/flower shots unless otherwise noted are done in a natural habitat or my personal garden with original composition in place. I say this partly because I get comments to photoshop out someone or something and I leave it to you the viewer to decide about the beauty, or lack there of, of an object in it's original setting. I'm not here to compete or show my talent, I'm here to represent the world as I see it and learn how to better represent that world in future shots.

My latest endevour is to work on lines, perspective and as always color.
