As a child he became interested in art and inherited from his father a strong social conscience. Since graduating from the University of Paris VIII Saint Denis, with the Diploma of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Studies he has dedicated himself to research and work through photography and video, ways and methods to report human rights violations, using abstract forms, photojournalism, documentary and fiction.

He was born in Colombia in 1964 but at 14 he went to live in Guatemala with his parents. He lived and worked a year in West New York N.J. to learn English. In 1983 he traveled to Paris France to study film and television and stayed until 1991. He lived for three years in Stockholm where he worked on a local television channel producing and directing programs aimed at the Latin American community in Stockholm. In 1994 he traveled to Brazil to the city of Fortaleza, where he spent nine years doing work for NGOs, associations and other institutions involved in the defense of human rights and the defense of children's rights. In 2005 he returned to Colombia after remaining twenty-six years outside his country. In Colombia he has taught at different universities teaching photography and audiovisual media.
