How a picture makes you feel is more important than what you see.

I spent years doing stuff such as financial analysis and computer modelling of land development projects. It was stuff that was so boring it would make you weep. Still, it was challenging, and suited my logical brain, especially the computer modelling.

In my teenage years I started to photograph with a 35mm Mamiya camera, then went on to Nikon F and Nikor lenses. In those years I learned black-and-white darkroom skills and did my own black-and-white post-production. What frustrated me was the lack of colour darkroom skills, ability, and opportunity. Somewhere along the line I gave up photography for the common reasons: other interests, cost, and lack of time. Last year (2016) I bought a Nikon D750, and got back into photography in a serious way. What got me re-enthused was post-production. Where before I was frustrated, now I can control how my pictures look both with the camera and the computer. Perhaps my logical side and my aesthetic side are finally merging. I'm mot sure this is true but it makes for a good story. If anyone cares, the work I did with film has proven invaluable in making the switch to digital. All this including the 500px community is, to say the least, wonderful!
