Drag to set position!
Retired couple with a life-long fascination for photography and life itself. Not always on here because of health issues. We’ve lived and worked in around a dozen countries, mostly in Europe. Thank you all for over 2 million views.
HIM - Over the years I’ve worked in so many different fields and whilst the baseline is that, following university in Durham, I’m a language teacher and translator, but growing up in the immediate aftermath of WW2 in the vibrant city of Liverpool I was inevitably drawn towards live music both as a performer but also as a sound engineer before anybody had even invented that job description. I created my first sound system early in the 1960s from War Department surplus and grew with the fledgling live sound industry as it evolved out of cinema and theatre sound. Worked professionally in that world for many years, from coffee bars and concert halls, to football grounds and festival venues across Europe, I was the one who got the blame whenever the musos had a bad day!
Along the way I was the in-house photographer (so I guess I that made me a professional photographer!) for an audio-visual production company – again long before the likes of PowerPoint had even been thought of – back in the days of multiple Kodak Carousels and dissolve units.
Now I’m retired but my hi-fi system is still reminiscent of a project studio and I’ve rediscovered my love of photography, albeit at a much simpler level. Here I offer you some of my attempts – some reasonable, some not so good, but they were only ever for fun. Mostly my photos are simply whatever grabbed my attention when I had camera or phone to hand. Constructive criticism very welcome along with suggestions about content. I've been told I have a good eye - not sure if it's the left one or the right, but that's for you to judge.
I’m returning to Flickr for another try having previously closed my pro account due to seriously ill health which is still quite unpredictable but might be improving. A few years ago I started a little project to source, restore and upload photos of my family forebears - I'm the youngest member of the last generation that can remember some, but not all, of them. I will try to make a bit more progress with that. Have taken hundreds of photos of my muse, some being experiments with eroticism, figure work, glamour and monochrome, needless to say she remains my favourite model.
HER (the Muse) - I once was a rock chick - but as a child of the 50s I don't think I can still call myself a chick - but I still rock on! Worked in the music biz and the theatre as a lighting designer, among other things including being a published poet. These days a charity worker and happily married granny, but have never learned to act my age and my life certainly hasn’t been boring or even ordinary! I have taken tens of thousands of photos, some published here, but really am just a happy snapper!
Some favourites and some needing a little love!
