I make photographs of nature. Birds, landscapes and whatever else I can find outside. Unschooled in the visual arts - learning by doing and reading, learning by seeing others' creations, have given me a great deal of pleasure and changed how I see, day by day.
flickr often disappoints me in its barrenness of meaningful comment, lack helpful or interesting back-and-forth. One thoughtful/insightful comment is worth hundred "faves" and a thousand of those silly, gaudy badges. I also weary of the silliness of heavy-handed policing of groups, and the weaning out of earnest offerings by self-appointed arbitrators. I have considered leaving all groups - but then I have friends in some of them, and it's another way to say "hi".
Photography of people baffles me. I admire those who do it well. Cities... the same, though I avoid them when I can.

About half my time is in Utah, half in the Adirondacks of northern New York on Lake Champlain. Two places far different on most any scale one could choose, excepting a similarity in a richness of places wherein the grimy hand of man has touched lightly, or not at all. And these are the places I favor.
It's presumptuous to think others would wish to use any of my images, but, in any case, they are mine, and to do so requires permission.

I rarely bother with these testimonial thingy m jigs but there are one or two people on Flickr that warrant a mention and worth a written memory for all time. Mark's one of those folk, many of his photographs are nothing short of stunning. I often find myself back arrowing when looking through his feed to take a second, if not a third look. Thank you Mark for being here and making the world a brighter place. Kindest wishes, Greta
