I title my collection "The best I could do having no idea what I’m doing”. I’m an amateur photographer from Powhatan, Virginia, US. I travel to see amazing things to photograph and use Flickr to expand my understanding of interesting photo techniques and to get scouting ideas before traveling. Thanks in advance for any comments/recommendations/critiques of the shots that I found interesting enough to post - even if they arent amazing I hope they provide insight into what you may expect to see if you go to the places I have visited. In looking at my images you will see that I focus on mostly landscapes while starting to expand into wildlife a bit.

I really try to capture authentic color to avoid post-process reimagining of images and don't manipulate my images with sky-replacement or the addition of elements from other photographs for effect. Most significant photography influencers to me are Nigel Danson, Thomas Heaton, Courtney Victoria, John Miskelly, and Mads Peter Iverson. A note to those I follow - I really appreciate your inclusion of EXIF data and location details on your photos as it helps me understand the approach used to capture the image - so thanks to those who provide this info. I aspire to be as good as those I follow on Flickr.

Current primary equipment in my bag:

For things that move: Nikon Z8 with Z 100-400 S

For things that dont move: Nikon Z7ii with Z 14-24 S

For nightscapes: Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 or 20mm f/1.8 on the Z7ii

For IR: modified Nikon D800 and Nikon 16-35 zoom

Other equipment that I take out of the closet based on the need: 24-70 f/2.8 Z, 24-70 f/4 Z, 14-30 f/4 Z, 24-120 f/4 Z, 180-600 f/5.6-6.3 Z, Fotopro E6L c/fibre tripod with gimbal and lighter weight Vanguard 235CBP with Leofoto LH-40 ballhead. My favorite backpack is the Mindshift Backlite 18L (its small enough for most planes yet will hold 2 bodies and even the 180-600).
