The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) is Ghana's first public University in the Brong-Ahafo Region established by an Act of Parliament, Act 830, 2011 with the core mandate to provide higher education, disseminate knowledge and undertake research related to energy and natural resources.

The University was inaugurated at a colorful ceremony held on the 17th of November, 2012. The inauguration coincided with the matriculation of 154 foundation students and the induction of Prof. (Mrs.) Esi Awuah, as the Foundation Vice-Chancellor and the second woman to head a public university in Ghana.

The University seeks to transform its graduates to become “TECHNOLOGIANS” who create, make and innovate. In other words, the University aims at providing on hands skills acquisition in science and technology-driven disciplines to its students. We aspire to become one of the best entrepreneurial universities on the continent of Africa.

The University operates a multi-campus system, with Sunyani being the main campus; other campuses are located at Nsoatre and Dormaa Ahenkro. The University hopes to become an internationally competitive institution that would provide distinctive contributions to societies, specifically in the area of energy and natural resources.

MISSION

To promote the development of human resources and skills required to solve critical energy and natural resources challenges of society and undertake interdisciplinary academic research and outreach programmes in engineering, science, economics and environmental policy.
