I teach high school math for money, ride a Fuji gravel bike for exercise, and shoot a Sony A6400 for fun.
As a youngster I always had an interest in photography, due in large part to my dad's interest in it. I remember his Pentax Spotmatic and the many slides we used to watch. My first camera was a little 110 camera (a Keystone XR308, I think). Since that time I've had a variety of cemras. My first 35mm camera was a Pentax IQ Zoom point-and-shoot. My first "real" camera was an old Minolta SRT-201 (retro even when I bought it on eBay). My first digital camera was a little Cannon Powershot point-and-shoot. In 2009 I bought my first DSLR, a Pentax K-x. I stuck with Pentax for the next 11 years, using a K-50 and a K-3 along the way. Pentax is great for landscapes but not so much for moving subjects due to its painfully-slow-and-not-getting-much-better autofocus system. So in 2020 I transitioned to Sony mirrorless and haven't looked back. The eye EF is a game-changer, and the much lighter weight makes it easier to carry the camera with me.
