My collection of Polish dolls in both regional folk costumes and historical dress.

I started this collection when I received my first two dolls on my 18th birthday. 40 years later that collection has grown to 160+ dolls. They are all made in Poland, most are from souvenir shops and some are special request orders. Sizes range from 8 to 11 inches in height, but some are smaller or larger than those.

The majority of dolls were made from 1960's up to late 1990's. These were what I call the golden years, many art cooperatives and doll manufactures formed to make many regional costumes of Poland for tourists and selling abroad.

After the fall of communism, materials and production costs have gone up and several manufactures have closed shop. With Poland joining the European Union, more western good became available, and the folk dolls lost out to other contemporary souvenir merchandise.
